Agfa-Gevaert announced that Igepa Belux (Belgium) will distribute SYNAPS®, Agfa’s high-quality synthetic paper, in the Belgian and Luxemburg markets. Earlier this year, SYNAPS® was launched with great success at the graphic tradeshow drupa in Düsseldorf, Germany. Many professional tradeshow visitors embraced the new products with great enthusiasm.

Synaps®, which is based on a modified polyester base, distinguishes itself from existing competitive media thanks to its high quality and excellent printability.
Synaps®
can be used with standard offset inks. Its fast drying time also allows for the quick turnaround times that printers strive for. As the new synthetic paper can be used with standard inks, it can be used on all offset printing presses, as well as UV inkjet printers.

Synaps®
was developed in-house starting from an innovative and patented manufacturing process. A special ink-receiving layer not only provides a unique printability, but also gives it the distinct look and feel of a luxury paper.

Synaps®
is available in a range of 5 weights suitable for a wide variety of applications that have high demands on material robustness or applications that otherwise benefit from the distinct nature of
Synaps®. It can even be used in harsh outdoor environments since it is also resistant to water, tearing, and UV light.

“Agfa’s expertise and know-how in the manufacturing of polyester film bases and in coating processes has allowed us to develop a new material that is easy-to-print, with superb image quality and a high-class look and feel.
Synaps®
will also offer a durability equal to or better than any other synthetic paper on the market today,” said Luc Delagay, President Agfa Materials.
