Inks X Software

Minimal ink consumption, stunning prints

At Agfa, we believe in achieving more with less. Thanks to our patented Thin Ink Layer technology, we offer the lowest ink consumption per square meter/foot in the industry, allowing you to create stunning prints while reducing costs and your ecological footprint.

This technology is built on:

  • Pigment selection, highly efficient pigment distribution and pigment load in the ink, ensuring exceptional color strength with minimal ink usage.
  • Smart color management through our Asanti software
    • Color profiling and calibration that ensure the printer accurately reproduces colors using the least amount of ink necessary.
    • Agfa-specific ink characterization in combination with techniques like Gray Component Replacement and Under Color Removal, which substitute more expensive CMY inks with the more economical black and light black ink, reducing overall ink consumption while maintaining color fidelity combined with improved color neutrality.

By combining cutting-edge technology with cost-saving benefits, Agfa ensures you get the highest print quality while using the least amount of ink. When compared to other RIP vendors, Asanti consumes approximately 10% to 15% less ink.

Software

Monitor your environmental impact

Over the past years, the demand for concrete climate actions has grown significantly across industries, including the graphic arts sector.

Our Asanti workflow software integrates seamlessly with Dataline’s MultiPress ERP/ MIS software, which in turn connects directly with advanced calculation tools that provide printing companies and print buyers with the relevant information concerning the total carbon footprint of the printed products.

These tools assess emissions at every stage of production, from quotes and orders to final invoices, using certified data aligned with global sustainability standards. They offer detailed insights into key factors that contribute to a product’s carbon footprint, such as material choices, energy consumption, and production processes.

This integration empowers print service providers to offer their customers, such as brand owners, clear CO2 estimates for each printed job. It also enables them to recommend more sustainable alternatives and generate periodic reports on the total carbon impact of all produced jobs over a given period. These insights can also support those same customers in meeting CSRD and other sustainability reporting requirements and help them develop and track their environmental strategies.

Print smart, waste less

In large-format printing, every wasted inch of media translates into lost revenue and unnecessary environmental impact. That’s why Agfa’s Asanti software is designed to limit media waste in a smart and automated way, ensuring that every job is optimized for efficiency without compromising quality.

Less manual work, less waste
By integrating the latest Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE), Asanti simplifies job preparation and eliminates manual steps that introduce human error. The software automates PDF file conversion and processing, reducing the risk of mistakes that would otherwise require costly reprints. The result? A streamlined, waste-free production process that boosts profitability and sustainability.

Error-free printing with Asanti Preflight
Errors in print files often lead to costly reprints and wasted media. Asanti Prefl ight eliminates this risk by automatically checking PDFs and other file formats before printing, catching potential issues early and ensuring every file is correctly prepared. This standardized, automated quality control reduces downtime, increases efficiency, and helps businesses avoid the hidden costs of wasted materials.

Intelligent automation for maximum material savings
Asanti acts as a complete Sign & Display production hub, automating workflow processes and reducing manual interventions that can lead to errors and reprints. Thanks to its automatic job layout and positioning, it ensures that print jobs are placed on media in the most space-efficient way. With automatic true-shape nesting, Asanti maximizes material usage by arranging irregularly shaped designs as tightly as possible on the substrate. Unlike traditional rectangular nesting, this advanced feature significantly reduces offcuts and leftover material.

Smarter job ganging with Asanti Autocollect
One of Asanti’s most powerful waste-reducing tools is Asanti Autocollect. This feature automatically groups (gangs) incoming print jobs that require the same media type and print quality. By continuously reevaluating new incoming PDFs and adjusting layouts dynamically, Asanti ensures that jobs are only sent to the printer when predefined criteria are met, preventing unnecessary partial prints and optimizing every run.

Media recipes
The Calibrated Print Modes in our Asanti workflow software let you select predefi ned ‘media recipes’, containing all parameter settings for a particular substrate. This not only wins you time, but also avoids costly mistakes and media waste.

Services X Printers

Built to last, designed to evolve

At Agfa, we are committed to providing inkjet printers that not only deliver exceptional results today but are built for the long haul. Our printers are developed to deliver reliable performance for at least seven years, but in many cases perform for well over fifteen years, supported by the availability of spare parts and consumables. This ensures that you get the most out of your investment.

On top of that, our printers are designed with upgradeability and scalability in mind, allowing your equipment to evolve with your business needs. As technology advances, your printer can adapt—whether by upgrading speed and colors, transitioning to more energy-efficient solutions like LED curing, or expanding production capabilities. For example, we have upgraded many Onset printers to the new Agfa inks, which bring the double benefit of a lower consumption and a prolonged printer lifetime. Our Jeti Tauro H3300 S can be upgraded to a Jeti Tauro H3300 HS, the Onset Grizzly can evolve into an Onset Panthera with LED curing, and the Jeti Bronco will be able to expand from two to four rows to meet increasing production demands. Many of our printers can also be equipped with additional automation, ensuring they scale seamlessly as your business grows.

Even when your printer reaches the end of its first life, it still holds potential rest value in the second-hand market, as many retain significant worth through resale or repurposing. With Agfa, your inkjet printer is not just a short-term solution—it’s a long-term solution that will continue to deliver value, flexibility, and sustainability for years to come.

Printers

Zero concessions on safety

At Agfa, safety isn’t just a checkbox, it’s a fundamental part of our printer design philosophy. We go beyond industry regulations to ensure our printers are not only powerful but also safe to operate. Our dedicated regulatory team works tirelessly to integrate best practices, international design standards, and regulatory guidelines into every aspect of our product development. At the end of the design cycle, our systems undergo rigorous validation by globally recognized certification bodies, guaranteeing compliance and reliability.

A safety-driven design approach goes beyond basic compliance. It ensures:

  • Operator, service engineer, and bystander safety—reducing the risk of injury in any environment.
  • Fire prevention—ensuring that both the printer and its infrastructure remain safe under all conditions.
  • Careful management of emissions, exhaust, and noise levels—ensuring a safer stress-free working environment.
  • An optimal balance between safety and ergonomics—protecting users without compromising ease of use. For instance:
    • Speed-controlled actuators to maintain emergency response times.
    • Mechanical protection to prevent injuries.

Agfa’s printers are built to the highest safety standards, undergoing both CE and NRTL audits to ensure they meet global regulatory requirements. While NRTL certification always involves independent external audits, Agfa goes a step further with CE by also conducting thorough independent audits, unlike some manufacturers who simply self-declare CE compliance without external validation. This commitment to verified compliance ensures greater durability, minimizes the risk of self-inflicted damage and interference from surrounding machinery, and results in more reliable performance with reduced maintenance needs. In some cases, it can even help lower insurance costs.

A bright future with LED curing

With the introduction of the Onset Panthera, all our inkjet printers now use LED curing technology. This shift to LED curing across our entire portfolio brings both sustainability benefits as well as improved performance to printing businesses.

Energy efficiency & long-term savings
UV LED lamps consume far less energy than traditional mercury bulb lamps, translating into significant power savings. By using less energy, our printers help reduce operational costs while contributing to a lower environmental impact. Additionally, LEDs last up to 10,000 hours, with no need for frequent replacements, meaning you save on both maintenance costs and downtime.

Green, safe technology
Unlike mercury lamps, LEDs contain no hazardous materials and don’t produce ozone. This makes them not only more eco-friendly but also safer for operators and the environment.

Broader application scope & reduced waste
LED curing’s low heat output allows for printing on a wider range of heat-sensitive substrates, such as thin plastics or self-adhesive sheets, expanding your application possibilities without compromising quality. It also reduces the chances of head crashes that could lead to wasteful reprints and material use.

Faster operations & higher productivity
One of the key advantages of LED lamps is their ability to instantly turn on and off with no warm-up time, increasing operational speed and boosting productivity. This efficiency helps businesses meet tight deadlines and produce more in less time.

Efficient design, less waste

Our printers are equipped with built-in features designed to minimize media waste throughout the entire printing process. This approach optimizes material usage and contributes to a more efficient and sustainable production process. Take the startup phase of roll-to-roll printing, for example. The first few meters of a roll can be printed in free float, preventing waste of valuable media. Additionally, smart media detection sensors identify skewed boards during unattended printing, minimizing errors and reducing media loss.
