Variable Range Hopping

Variable RangeHopping (VRH) is a unique Agfa-patented anti-static feature used in the CURIX films. In VRH, a special electrically conducting polymer coating remains on the film after processing. This polymer, structured in clusters, is a fiber-like substance that allows electrons to jump from one cluster to another under the influence of an external electric field. As a consequence of its anti-static characteristics, the film repels dirt and dust and remains clean under the most adverse conditions. Thanks to VRH, the CURIX films are ideal for use in digitizers where electrostatic charging is a problem.

This technology simplifies the procedure of scanning the film and guarantees images free of artifacts.
