ABOUT CONDUCTIVE INKS
A conductive ink is an ink that results in a printed object which conducts electricity.
Using conductive inks represents an additive process for making a conductive circuit and may be more economical and sustainable compared to the traditional industrial approach of etching the circuit from copper plated substrates. Printing with the use of conductive inks counts numerous applications including RFID tags, computer keyboards and windshield defrosters. Since the inks can be applied on flexible substrates such as paper, plastic and even textiles they allow for an alternative for rigid printed circuit boards when no electronic components are involved and flexibility or thermoforming to specific shapes is required.
To best meet the requirements of specific applications Agfa offers two categories of inks with a different chemical composition: transparent PEDOT:PSS-based inks and inks containing nano-particles of silver (Ag). Next to great conductivity and adhesion to various types of substrates, all Agfa inks excel in process ability to reach fine line patterns both with analog or screen printing and digital or inkjet printing. Agfa’s Ag-inks stand out by their low sintering temperature.
