Agfa introduces carbon tracking with Asanti 7 update
Agfa, a global leader in inkjet printing technology, has unveiled the latest evolution of its Asanti workflow software with new features to support efficiency and sustainability in sign and display production.
Asanti 7 integrates with Dataline’s Multipress, enabling print service providers to calculate the carbon footprint of print jobs while leveraging advanced workflow tools to minimize waste. A comprehensive sign and display production hub, Asanti 7 is engineered to simplify, automate, and optimize every aspect of digital print production, from smart color management to streamlined process efficiency. As part of Agfa’s Thin Ink Layer technology, the software reduces ink consumption through smart algorithms, while automated preflighting, and intelligent job ganging help minimize media waste by optimizing layout positioning and material usage. High level of automation in job processing further allows to minimize on operator times so they can focus on other tasks.
The new sustainability tracker in Asanti 7 is fully integrated with Dataline’s MultiPress MIS/ERP system, providing a direct link to advanced calculation tools that assess the carbon footprint of each printed project. This integration delivers granular insights into key environmental factors like material choice and energy consumption, empowering print service providers to offer clear CO2 estimates for each printed job.
With these insights, providers can recommend more sustainable alternatives and track the total carbon footprint of their operations, supporting customer demands and sustainability goals.
The platform’s intuitive nesting tools further support more sustainable printing by automatically arranging print jobs to reduce offcuts and leftover material. These enhancements work seamlessly with Asanti’s Autocollect feature, which intelligently groups incoming print jobs based on media type and required print quality, ensuring that only fully optimized jobs are sent to print, preventing unnecessary partial prints and maximizing production efficiency.
The software’s ‘media recipes’ further standardize material handling, reducing manual errors and excess consumption. These features work alongside Agfa’s award-winning color management, which ensures consistent output with minimal ink waste across diverse substrates.
Michael Dupré, Head of Software DPS at Agfa, said: “Recent years have seen a significant rise in demand for climate action across industries, and the sign and display sector is no exception. With these latest updates, our Asanti workflow program now provides an invaluable tool to help print service providers meet this expectation. The introduction of the new sustainability tracker in Asanti 7 empowers print service providers to take real, measurable steps toward reducing their environmental impact, making informed decisions on the materials and processes they use and better communicating their sustainability efforts to clients. Thanks to ink saving technology and waste-reducing automation, Asanti 7 ensures print service providers can deliver high-quality output while minimizing their ecological footprint.”
