SPIR@L screening exceeds expectations at Grupo Sinos

Brazilian newspaper printing company Grupo Sinos deployed ECO3’s revolutionary SPIR@L screening technology, and noticed an immediate impact on its daily production…

Grupo Sinos

With the spirit of a true pioneer, Grupo Sinos continuously invests in new technologies. The newspaper group has had a long-time partnership with Agfa Offset Solutions (now ECO3) of more than 25 years. Grupo Sinos was the first Brazilian newspaper to install a CTP system in 1999. Now, they are the first newspaper in Latin America to replace their traditional screening with ECO3’s revolutionary SPIR@L screening technology for all of their products.

“SPIR@L screening is truly innovative, as it substitutes the traditional dot shape with a spiral shape to reduce ink consumption,” says Lucas Hilgert da Silva, Production Supervisor at Grupo Sinos. “This new screening technology impacted our daily production directly. It not only lived up to its promise to lower our overall ink consumption, we also experienced better image quality with improved detail reproduction and better sharpness. This gain in sharpness brought about relevant quality improvements in image reproduction, delivering a great benefit to our advertisers and not less importantly, to our readers.”

“The printing startup process turned out to be easier and faster, which indirectly led to a lower consumption of paper and fountain solution, and a decrease of the overall production time. This, in turn, resulted in higher production efficiency, and it definitely reduced our production costs too”, emphasizes Lucas.
