Chicago, IL (Graph Expo) – October 15, 2006 (Booth #4218) – Agfa Graphics announced today that the latest version of its :Delano project management system will be demonstrated for the first time in North America at the company’s Graph Expo exhibit.
:Delano, which is used by printers around the world, now has greater softproofing capabilities in :Delano 2.6, which further improves softproofing by making it possible to build a full project management suite. With options such as :Delano StreamProof, users can proofread, mark-up and approve high-resolution production files in a standard web browser in real time.
“Agfa has a long history of making sure its products continue to evolve to meet the ever-growing needs and demands of its customers around the globe. :Delano 2.6 will offer better support for spot colors, an improved user interface, and faster overall system responsiveness,” said Agfa’s Deborah Hutcheson, senior marketing manager, Digital Solutions, North America. “:Delano 2.6 builds on Agfa’s solid background in hard-copy proofing and brings our expertise to today’s mixed environment of hard-copy and digital prepress in The Graphic Enterprise.”
In addition to softproofing, :Delano 2.6 brings additional features for extended JDF (Job Definition Format) connectivity. It will also handle more pages for more in-house users and offer support for special jobs such as inserts and poster printing.
“We have always looked to Agfa for workflow and production solutions. :Delano is a very robust system that is helping us advance our automation efforts,” said Christy Miners, digital prepress supervisor at Democrat Printing in Little Rock, Arkansas, one of several printers in North America to have already put :Delano through its paces. “It provides a complete communications framework that links administration with production.”
