  • Bilcare’s special grade PVC allows for high-end security features
  • Agfa’s PETix overlay films upgrade PVC cards to 10+ years life time

While PVC has since long proven its value as a most cost competitive card material, its limited durability has been an obstacle to use it for high-end security applications like for instance ID-cards.

To upgrade the use of PVC to card applications with higher security demands, Bilcare and Agfa have co-developed innovative and durable card constructions, one of which includes Bilcare’s SICOSMART, high Vicat core, SICOPLAST, a laser engravable transparent PVC, and Agfa’s PETix overlay films.

Additional to proven compatibility with standard security features, testing has demonstrated that SICOPLAST offers excellent adhesion to PETix, Agfa’s polyester overlay films with a certified durability of 10+ years.  Using specific types of PVC, PETix allows for the implementation of PETix Silver Laser Personalisation (SLP). By combining extensive security options with durability, the innovative card constructions present the card manufacturing industry with a most cost competitive alternative for high-end security cards.

Both companies Agfa and Bilcare will introduce the innovative card designs to the market at upcoming TRUSTECH Conference in Cannes, France. The involved card materials will be immediately available for sales via respective companies.

About Agfa’s Silver Laser Personalisation

Agfa will introduce at TRUSTECH 2017 its PETix Silver Laser Personalisation (SLP) technology as an innovative security feature adding value to the existing range of the PETix card overlay materials. Using standard laser imaging equipment PETix SLP allows for card personalisation showing a silvery effect when the card is tilted.
