CURIX OPTHOS H Film

High-speed film for reliable thoracic imaging using low radiation doses.

Key benefits

  • Large absorption differences in one image.
  • Lower doses and fewer repeats, benefiting both patients and staff.
  • Compatible with all RP and HT processors and daylight systems on the market.
  • Environmentally-friendly.
  • Ready for the digital era.

Thoracic imaging is among the most difficult radiology techniques, as different organic structures, all with important pathological information, are visualized on a single image.

CURIX OPTHOS H film for thorax imaging is specifically designed to address the challenges. Using 400 speed film, it allows you to significantly reduce radiation dose without losing image quality, benefiting both patient and staff.

The unique concept of matched asymmetrical films and screens makes it possible to obtain large absorption differences in one and the same image. With the excellent signal-to-noise ratio, you have better visualization of all details.

Can be used with following products and services

Agfa developer and fixer processing solutions are recommended.

Suitable for following market segments

CURIX Opthos H film is designed for both standard HT and RP processing.

Availability

Worldwide.

Fewer repeat exposures

CURIX OPTHOS H helps reduce repeat exposures due to positioning and other problems. Its sensitometry enables maximum exposure latitude, resulting in a truly all-round thorax film that gives you maximum safety.

Optimum sharpness to see all details

With the excellent signal-to-noise ratio, you have better visualization of the lung parenchyma, while retrocardial and sub-diaphragmatic regions can be penetrated more efficiently. Septal and pneumothorax lines as well as miliary and micronodular interstitial diseases are more visible too.

Optimum visualization of information

The unique concept of matched asymmetrical films and screens makes it possible to obtain large absorption differences in one and the same image. Despite differences in absorption, mediastinal and retrocardial information as well as lung parenchyma are visualized together. When the system is exposed, both screens have a different emittance owing to their different emulsions and visualize the total image perfectly.

Ready for the digital era

Thanks to the unique Variable Range Hopping concept, CURIX OPTHOS H is coated with an antistatic layer that remains on the film after processing. The film attracts less dust and dirt, reducing artifacts and increasing the quality of scans. This results in improved transport in digitizers with bulk auto feed.

HT processing: high efficiency

In combination with our high-throughput (HT) processors, daylight system and other HT films, CURIX OPTHOS H enables you to increase your department's efficiency.

Threefold ecologically sound processing

CURIX OPTHOS H is fully compatible with the CLASSIC E.O.S. and COMPACT E.O.S. The "Ecologically Optimized System" reduces both the silver content in wash water and the fixer replenishment rate by 35%. Additionally, CURIX OPTHOS H can be processed in glutaraldehyde-free developer and low-odor fixer.

Safelight requirements
The use of a special red safelight filter is recommended.
It should be used in combination with a 15 watt frosted bulb and be positioned at least at 1.2 m (4') from the unloading/loading area and processor tray.

Processing

CURIX OPTHOS H film is designed for both standard high-throughput (HT) and rapid (RP) processing.
Agfa's developer and fixer processing solutions are recommended.

Handling

The film should be handled carefully.
Creasing, buckling and physical pressure should be avoided.

Storage

Unopened, unexposed films should be stored at or below 21°C (70°F) in a dry location.
The relative humidity should preferably remain between 30 and 50 %.
The film should be protected from ionizing radiation.

Packaging

CURIX OPTHOS H film is available in all customary sizes, in 100 sheet packaging.
Other packaging and sizes are available on special order.
