- DX-D 100 was chosen for its image quality, potential dose reduction and ergonomic, easy-to-use design. - Wireless flexibility is ideal for emergency departments and operating rooms. - Fast Forward program supports hospitals globally to upgrade and update their imaging solutions.

Agfa HealthCare announces today that the Cremona Hospital and the Oglio Po Hospital, both part of the Azienda Ospedaliera ‘Istituti Ospitalieri’ di Cremona, in Italy, are upgrading to direct radiography (DR) with Agfa HealthCare’s Fast Forward program. The wireless DX-D 100 was chosen for its image quality, potential dose reduction capability and ergonomic, easy-to-use design.

The Cremona Hospital and the Oglio Po Hospital together count 1029 beds. They serve the public in the southern Lombardy and northern Emilia Romagna region. The contract was signed at the beginning of October 2014, with installation starting the second half of December.

Versatility and excellent image quality
The Fast Forward Program is designed to support efficiency and image quality improvements while maximizing the hospital’s existing investments. It allows medical imaging facilities to advance at their own speed and budget towards cassette-less DR.

The Azienda, which already has an Agfa HealthCare radiology information system (RIS) and computed radiography (CR) digitizers, chose to implement two mobile DX-D 100 units with wireless detectors. With its excellent image quality and flexible handling, the mobile DX-D 100 offers fast imaging that can be validated immediately. The Cesium Iodide DR detector delivers higher sensitivity (DQE) while MUSICA image processing software provides outstanding contrast detail and exam-independent, consistent image quality.

“We are installing one DX-D 100 at each of our hospitals in Cremona and Oglio Po,” explains Dr. Lucio Antonio Olivetti head of Radiologist Department of the Azienda Ospedaliera ‘Istituti Ospitalieri’ di Cremona. “With their versatility and image quality, they will enhance our emergency treatment for patients, and improve our physicians’ diagnostic confidence. The wireless detector has no attached cable, for increased safety and hygiene, especially in operating rooms.”

“This is what the Fast Forward program is all about: helping hospitals move forward with innovative and market-leading solutions,” says Salvatore Selvaggio, country manager, Agfa HealthCare Italy. “We are very pleased to support the Azienda’s hospitals to advance to the next level of imaging, and to share with the patients the radiation dose and quality advantages of DR.”
