Agfa HealthCare announces today that Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, Ontario, has selected the DX-D 500n dual cesium detector direct radiography (DR) system. The installation will improve efficiency and enhance image quality at Canada's largest trauma center.

Extending relationship to rely on leading diagnostic imaging technologies
The DX-D 500n is a versatile DR system that can be tailored to the specific diagnostic needs of any facility. The dual detector solution offers excellent workflow flexibility, improves productivity, and delivers enhanced image quality. The DX-D 500n provides workflow improvements that help maximize the time technologists spend with the patient, helping Sunnybrook achieve the high level of positive patient experience it seeks to provide. In addition, the system also provides improved comfort for the patient with faster exam time due to its ability to quickly accommodate nearly any imaging exam and provides immediate image preview.

"Efficiency of imaging exams and the quality of the results are very important to our clinicians and the patients we treat in our busy hospital which is sited with the country's largest regional trauma center and the second largest cancer center in Canada." said Henry Sinn, Director of Medical Imaging, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. "We are pleased to be extending our relationship with Agfa HealthCare so that we can continue to rely on leading diagnostic imaging technologies to provide the best possible care to our patients."

Integration with existing solutions to further enhance quality of care

Sunnybrook clinicians and radiologists will also benefit from the integration of their existing Agfa HealthCare computed radiography (CR) solutions with the new DR system. The DX-D 500n includes the same user-friendly NX software interface, so minimal training is required, and features Agfa HealthCare's 'gold-standard' image processing software MUSICA2 for excellent image quality. In addition, the DX-D 500n utilizes the same MUSICA2 processing algorithms as Sunnybrook's Agfa HealthCare CR solutions, creating a consistent look across modalities.

"Agfa HealthCare is pleased to provide a wide range of imaging solutions which integrate seamlessly into our customer's current workflow and help them increase productivity while improving the delivery of patient care," said Kristen Andreopoulos, Imaging Solutions Manager, Agfa HealthCare, Canada. "The
DX-D 500n will provide Sunnybrook, a fast-paced trauma center, with the diagnostic improvements needed to further enhance the patient experience and the quality of care provided to each and every patient."
