Agfa's second generation of ANaiS, its high-security identification cards system
ANaiS automates a unique Agfa personalization process based on color photographic transfer. This DCT-Pro (Digital Continuous Tone Professional) process represents the latest evolution of the technology used for paper based cards, such as the French National ID card. It allows the digitized color image of the portrait to be chemically transferred onto the inner layer of the identification card, underneath the security printing. This is a field proven concept offering protection against tampering and counterfeiting.
In 2007, Agfa will execute the prestigious Moroccan government contract for the production of 20 million ID cards with an integrated RFID module (Radio Frequency Identification). With ANaiS, Agfa is not only targeting this high-end segment of identity cards and passports, but also other highly attractive markets such as corporate security cards, e-health cards or drivers licenses.
Leo Alaerts, Manager of Agfa Materials' Specialty Products business unit: "Agfa has always been active in the identity and security cards area, providing imaging materials and special laminates to paper-based ID document producers. With the second generation of the ANaiS high-security identification cards solution, Agfa will be able to further penetrate the growing field of personal, high-security plastic electronic ID documents with a comprehensive system including hardware, software and consumables."
