EL Lamps

Agfa developed OrgaconTM, in a last decade, based on Agfa proprietary of conductive polymer, called “PEDOT (polyethylene dioxythiophene)”. Making the use of this PEDOT, flexible electrode for new EL Lamps became available in electronic device market.

Building up EL Lamp

A typical electroluminescent lamp (EL Lamp) comprises a transparent conductive base. Conventional EL lamp are made on polyester film with a coated ITO (indium tin oxide) layer, vacuum sputtered. However, there are new demands in the market for flexible EL lamp product, which was never possible with ITO electrodes. Availability of transparent highly conductive ORGACON inks resulted in direct patternable electrodes.

During screen printing processes using large size ITO layer, even careless handling can damage easily the layer because an inorganic layer is very brittle. By selecting Orgacon™, you can fold it or bend it. The layer can tolerate severe surface damaging without influencing the surface conductivity.

Due to its flexibility and deformability, Orgacon™ is more appropriate than ITO film to be used as transparent conductive base for EL lamp Products (3D EL lamps, in mould production processes).
