Inkjet ink design

Inkjet inks can be very complex in composition depending on the requirements for the specific printing system.
For imaging applications (and other) a first important quality aspect is given by the color space which can be obtained. For dye based inkjet inks the choice of the dye is crucial. For pigmented inkjet inks, next to the choice of the right pigment for the expected color value, the dispersion design is determining the final quality level of the inkjet ink, often strongly limiting the choice in pigments.

In the pigment dispersion step, the choice of the dispersant(s) and dispersion medium are crucial for obtaining nano dispersed fine and stable pigment dispersions. We have experience with dispersing organic and inorganic pigments in aqueous, solvent and curable dispersion media.

However, formulating pigmented inkjet inks is much more than diluting the pigment dispersion!
We are experienced in finding the right combination of components in specific weight ratio's using specific mixing conditions. This proves to be very critical for many aspects of final inkjet ink quality.
