Nano pigment dispersions
Nano dispersions of inorganic or organic pigments are designed to fulfil the requirements of the final inkjet inks.
Depending upon the application, the right combination of pigment, dispersion medium and dispersing agent is selected based on a fundamental understanding of structure-properties relationships between pigments and dispersing agents.
A polymeric dispersing agent is a copolymer whereof the building monomers and the architecture are dependent on the dispersion medium and the pigment. For some type of pigments a common dispersing agent is adequate for good dispersion quality. But several pigments with very interesting color values are not easily dispersible, especially in a non-aqueous medium.
We developed a range of dispersion synergists which when combined with a polymeric dispersing agent deliver excellent pigment dispersion quality and stability for a wide range of pigments.
We are experts in matching pigment, dispersing agent (and optionally a dispersion synergist) and dispersion medium. This results in a superior pigment dispersion quality (very fine and narrow particle size distribution) and very high pigment dispersion stability (long shelf life). This concentrated pigment dispersion in water, solvent, oil or curable monomer is used (diluted) to formulate inkjet inks.
Other quality aspects delivered by our pigment dispersions are high color gamut, high covering power and high outdoor stability.
Our capability to combine/realize various key characteristics of nano pigments into production scale nano pigment dispersions relies amongst others on our process know how of dispersion technology and stabilization mechanisms, including specialty chemicals such as (proprietary) dispersion synergists.
