High throughput screening

High throughput screening (HTS) techniques are especially interesting in the early stages of ink development because they allow the screening of a very high number of combinations in a very short time. Our HTS lab is able to handle hundreds of samples a day. In one experiment multiple components can be screened. Typically, high performing inkjet inks contain more than 10 components, thus leading to a very high number of combinations.

Our HTS lab allows us to rapidly narrow down the many combinations to the appropriate candidates according to the specified criteria, for instance including viscosity, surface tension, color value, curing speed (in case of curable inks), physical characteristics, etc. This certainly reduces development time of new ink formulations.
