For consolidating report or image storage or moving to a new PACS or RIS supplier, Agfa has developed tools to migrate information and images within an archive system or from a legacy archive to a newer DICOM archive. These migration tools move the images automatically and verify image quality and demographics. The migration speed can be "tuned" to the available system bandwidth so that during times of peak image retrieval, user performance is unaffected. Agfa's hierarchical storage management system allows any future migration activities to be done in the background without affecting archiving performance
