Agfa Connects issue 1
Executive Message
Welcome to the first edition of Agfa HealthCare's quarterly newsletter, Agfa Connects! Whether you are working at a small clinic or the country's largest hospital, we want to open the channels of communication and keep you abreast of the latest Agfa news in Canada, new industry initiatives and healthcare trends across Canada.
The move toward eHealth is certainly a hot topic, and we have seen a significant push from the Canadian government, demanding that the industry take advantage of the time, cost, and resource efficiencies promised by healthcare information technology - including electronic health records (EHR) and Local Health Integrated Networks (LHINs).
As such, the past few years have been busy ones for those involved with automation of processes within the healthcare industry. With the increase in the size of our aging population, extended wait times, and chronic conditions, Canada's healthcare system needs a radical change. We believe that there is no longer any choice about joining the eHealth revolution: it is becoming the rule, not the exception-and it's gaining momentum everywhere.
At Agfa HealthCare, we've been busy, too. We've been working with healthcare organizations across the country to gain momentum and propel eHealth forward. In this issue, you will hear from Diane Salois-Swallow, Chief Information Officer for York Central Hospital and Southlake Regional Health Centre, Chief Privacy Officer for York Central Hospital, who will give an update on the Toronto East Network Diagnostic Imaging Picture Archiving and Communication System Repository Project. You'll also have a chance to learn about the newest Agfa HealthCare technologies available and see how BC-area Optima Health Solutions has moved to a filmless environment.
Everyone here at Agfa HealthCare is committed to helping you, our customers, through this eHealth transition. There's so much more to be done and we want to help. We are at the dawning of a new era in healthcare, so join us for the ride. We are eager to hear what you think about this first issue and welcome your feedback, ideas and suggestions at connects@agfahealthcare.ca
Best,
