Basic operation of how it works:

Customers initiate a new job request.

  • Customers initiate the request using the :Apogee ProjectManager interface or the customer service representative does it for them.

  • Collaboration takes place without the need to re-enter project data. - JDF link with administrative system enables automatic project updating.

  • Upon project initiation, the customer is invited to upload files in an organised way via :Apogee ProjectManager. Alternatively, :Apogee ProjectManager can set up and monitor standard FTP volumes and automatically drop files into multiple prepress workflow systems.

  • Using task chains, :Apogee ProjectManager automatically starts processing pages from incoming files, which are setup either manually or based on best practice models.

  • When page processing tasks are finished or require intervention, :Apogee ProjectManager organises the correct communication either internally or externally:
    - Proactive warnings on Preflight and Trapping issues.
    - Invitations to approve or annotate SoftProofs.
    - Follow-up of local or remote hardcopy proofing cycles.
    - Distribution to the appropriate production environments.

  • Approved pages contained in the run lists are imposed into signatures.

  • Pages can be imposed manually by selecting imposition schemes from the :Apogee ProjectManager interface or automatically by means of JDF.

  • When all pages are approved, :Apogee ProjectManager initiates and tracks the plate production process.

  • :Apogee Prepress or a non-Agfa prepress system handles the imposition and plate processing on site or across multiple production sites.

  • When the plates are available, :Apogee ProjectManager informs the pressroom manager, who can take appropriate action and use :Apogee ProjectManager to ask for plate remakes if necessary.

  • :Apogee ProjectManager lets you manually indicate how the job is to be handled all along the workflow even to its delivery to the end customer.

  • Once the job is finished it can be archived, and feedback on the production cycle can be provided to administrative systems for costing purposes.

  • At any time during the entire production process employees, either in administration or on the shopfloor, or even customers can be granted access to status information.
