Agfa Graphics announced today that the largest newspaper publisher in the Republic of Indonesia, Jawa Pos, has purchased two violet CtP systems and :Arkitex workflow. With one CtP system already up and running, it is expected that the full installation at Jawa Pos' headquarters in Surabaya will be completed in the first quarter of 2006.
The Jawa Pos group publishes 83 titles in 29 printing sites covering the whole archipelago of Indonesia. The decision to purchase Agfa's complete CtP and workflow system came following three months of intense scrutiny by the technical and financial staff. As an experienced and satisfied user of Agfa film, Jawa Pos' decision to go with Agfa was not very difficult.Besides the gains in time and quality that CtP would provide, there were still other concerns that Jawa Pos had. Recent external financial challenges that Jawa Pos faced have been partially offset thanks to the transition to Agfa's violet CtP systems.
"The :Arkitex workflow is easy and simple to operate," said Jawa Pos' HQ prepress manager, Mr. Jamrodji. "Agfa's violet CtP engine is very fast, and we anticipate it will give us significant time savings of 45 minutes in getting finished articles to press, costs savings in inks and paper waste, and much improved quality. These improvements position us for stronger growth, not only in our headquarters but in our other sites as well, in the coming years."
Jawa Pos also cited that strong technical support and services as a main point in choosing Agfa solutions. Agfa's partner in Indonesia, PT IPP, has consistently proven valuable to Jawa Pos over the years. All IPP engineers are Agfa-trained and qualified. They also work closely with Agfa's newspaper support team in exchanging ideas, problem solving skills and solutions.
"We are pleased Jawa Pos chose Agfa's solutions and services. Jawa Pos recognised, as many others around the world have, that Agfa's systems can provide tremendous print quality, time-saving automation, an easy-to-use workflow and many other cost savings," said Hans Gerinckx, director of newspaper sales for Agfa Graphics worldwide.
Agfa's violet CtP systems for newspapers includes the :Polaris line of platesetters. :Polaris X imaging systems provide speeds from 200-350 plates per hour, with the ability to image multiple resolutions, even during a single production run. The :Advantage line of platesetters provides an alternative solution for manual and automated CtP systems.
