Application, Selection of the applicants
Yes, we accept applications from non-EU countries. If you are from outside the EU, you should contact IAESTE or the Leonardo da Vinci Programme before you come to Belgium. These organizations will help you to get a visa for the time of your internship.
You have to take into consideration the different steps of the selection process: checking profiles (cv and motivation letter), gathering missing information, making telephone calls, trying to make a match between the profile and the project, etc. This can take about 4 to 8 weeks.
Firstly you have to apply on our website. If your application is further considered, you will be invited for a telephone call with someone from the Agfa Discovery team. The first call will be about your personality, interests, studies and motivation. If the outcome of the conversation is positive, you are invited for a short phone discussion with the project leader to discuss the project and its technical aspects.
For a number of years, ‘Discovery’, an intensive talent-scouting programme, has been in progress at Agfa Graphics. Each year, Agfa Graphics selects several students and offers them a training project in the areas of material research and technology development (imaging and printing). For more info about the Discovery programme, please read the article Agfa Graphics Talent Scout.
Length of the internships, holidays
Agfa Graphics Discovery regards the diversity of the students as an important factor. Its success is mainly based upon the balance of students with different ages, genders, and cultural background. We have had students from France, Argentina, Serbia, Italy, England, Hungary, Switzerland, Germany and Poland.
You are entitled to 1,5 days off per month, e.g. 9 days during a 6 months internship and 18 days during a 12months internship. Besides these days, there are several national holidays also in Belgium.
The minimum duration of the internship is 6 months, but 12 months is preferred.
Accommodation, allowance package
You will have a Belgian bank account and a Belgian credit card from the first week of your internship. You will receive the monthly intern allowance on this account and you can use the credit card inside Belgium. At the end of your internship and before leaving Agfa, you will be required to have your Belgian bank account closed.
The allowance package covers your basic travelling, meals and general expenses. The trainee is personally responsible for managing his/her total monthly budget. It is true that the allowance package, full administrative support and free accommodation together are very attractive and competitive. This enables you to focus on your project during your internship at Agfa Graphics.
2-3 students are living together usually in a flat. They all have a separate room.
No, the accommodation is free of charge for you. You only have to pay for your internet connection, in case you order it.
You do not need to search for accommodation. Students live in fully-equipped, well-located apartments on our expenses during their internships. You will live together with 1 or 2 other interns. You only need to bring bed sheets, bath and kitchen towels.
