Agfa HealthCare announced today the launch of Agfa Audit Manager, a unique privacy and security system that automatically and rapidly, when launched, provides healthcare facilities with an accounting of access and updates to protected health information through its convenient monitoring and reporting functions. While the industry currently uses a manual process to go through and inspect each file for irregularities, Agfa Audit Manager reduces that process, which would typically take several days to complete, down to a few minutes, offering greater patient data protection.

The traditional tracking process involves significant manual effort, often requiring multiple hours or days to produce a comprehensive accounting. With Agfa Audit Manager, that effort is reduced to just a few minutes, enabling healthcare providers to complete this monitoring on a more cost efficient and regular basis.

Public awareness and desire for the protection of personal privacy are growing at an increasing rate. These increases have driven the creation of various sets of regional privacy legislations that in turn are requiring healthcare facilities to expand their efforts to track all disclosures of protected health information while the patient is under their care.

Agfa Audit Manager does this through its support of the Integrating the HealthCare Enterprise (IHE) Basic Security profile. In this model the various clinical information systems push audit information in a standardized format, to the Agfa Audit Manager. The incoming audit information is then centrally stored and made available through a single, simple reporting interface.
